Last month SystemSpecs organized Remita workshops for selected bankers in Lagos and Abuja in order to create a platform for them to discuss and share experiences on e-payment. The workshops focused mainly on the challenges and success stories of their clients who have successfully migrated to the new e-payment platform and how best Remita can continue to enhance and bring more value to them.

The workshops were attended by 42 bankers from various banks including the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Declaring the workshops open, John Obaro, MD, SystemSpecs said, “e-payment is the ability to pay suppliers, vendors and staff salaries at the touch of a button. With Remita you can send all your payment instructions to all your banks electronically and receive feedback immediately”

Obaro went on to enumerate what a true e-payment solution should enable you do: view your consolidated bank balances on a single screen, process all your payments electronically from end-to-end, conduct multi-bank activities from just one place, and replicate your existing payment workflow. He also said that it should enable you make payments to micro-finance banks, institute amount-based security, send detailed credit advices via SMS & e-mail, view reports & audit trails, deliver schedules to relevant parties, and implement and use easily. Gbenga Adegbulugbe, Head, Remita Business Development said, “we decided to organize this workshop in order to share experiences with our partner banks, provide them with latest development in Remita, and come up with a clear cut direction on how best to meet the expectation of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on e-payment for public sector”

“Remita remains the only real-time multi-bank e-payment solution in Nigeria today. What this means is that with Remita you don't have to deal with several banks at the same time to make payments. From a single screen you can view your consolidated bank balance from all banks and make payment electronically. We are excited about this product and the ease of payment it has given to users.” Said Dr. Akin Oduntan of Remita Business Development Group.

Cecily Aigbiremolen, Head, Funds Transfer, Ecobank Nigeria Plc said, “it has been worth the while; my knowledge about Remita has improved considerably. We are now better equipped to meet the expectations of our customers and the government directive.”
